Söderkulla International School
Söderkulla International School is a small, integrated section of a well-established and fully equipped Swedish school. Small classes make it possible to cater for the individual needs of pupils. Whilst enjoying the advantages of a rich, multicultural environment in the international department, the close connection to Söderkullaskolan provides ample opportunity for pupils to experience and participate in Swedish culture and tradition. The geographical position of Malmö makes it an attractive centre for European and international companies. A need has therefore been created for a school which can offer an education in English for families staying temporarily in Sweden as well as for pupils who wish to continue their education at international schools. In the autumn of 1994, bilingual classes were started in the upper school at Söderkulla, followed by the opening of the international classes in August 1996. In September 2003 the school opened a new nursery for children aged between four and five. In the summer of 2000, Söderkulla International School was accepted as a member of ECIS (European Council of International Schools). In the same year, Söderkulla International was selected to provide education for the children of the World Maritime University students. The well-qualified staff at Söderkulla International School represents several English speaking countries and has a wide experience of working in multicultural learning situations. The staff attends regular in-service courses. As Söderkulla International School is state controlled, the tuition in the international classes is free of charge. The curriculum followed by the international classes is based on the Swedish curriculum.
