International School of Stockholm
The International School of Stockholm is a private co-educational day school serving the business and diplomatic community of Stockholm. It is governed by a Board of Directors who are either appointed or elected to serve specific terms of office. The Director is the school's chief administrative officer. The academic programme is designed to meet the individual needs of the student body. Much attention is paid to developing programmes to meet the broad range of backgrounds and abilities of the students. All instruction is in English. Computer studies, physical education, music, art and drama are taught by specialist teachers. Some 50 nationalities are represented among the student population. The school is approved for the Middle Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate Organisation, and has begun teaching to the philosophy of the Primary Years Programme. In 2000/01 grade 10 began, and the school offers the full IB Diploma Programme. The school year begins in the third week of August and ends the second week of June. ISS is housed in a well-equipped building in the centre of Stockholm. Twenty-five classrooms, laboratories, cafeteria, gymnasium, libraries and offices are available for use. The school is in a park on a hilltop near the main downtown business area. Application materials are available upon request from the school office. The school is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the European Council of International Schools. |
